Michael Jackson = An idea

Some people wonder why Michael Jackson was so popular, why he had legions of fans. I think he reached such a global scale that fans developed a common consciousness, united by MJ's every new song. In 1992 he came in my country for the first time - i recently rewatched that concert on MTV and i was impressed mainly by 2 things: the flow of passed-out people that were being carried to the ambulance was constant and performance details that you can only see by rewatching the taped concert. You don't need to be an expert to see that he was a master at work. The audio tape of that concert was the first audio tape i ever had, my mom bought it for me (i was about 6 years old then). This Michael Jackson explosion was probably even bigger here because we were an ex-communist country now open to international entertainment. I was really looking forward to a comeback concert, especially since he didn't perform lately...

Another cool thing is that every few hundred years some guy appears and creates multiple breakthroughs in his field, but not like an invention or something like that - simply through 'brutal' progress, like Leonardo da Vinci did. Michael Jackson gives me that same impression because he was not only a singer, but a composer and a dancer too. And i don't think it's a stretch to say he was the best at all 3.

I think the public memorial will be next Tuesday. My guess is that it will be the most watched live event in history. Some guy said on TV that we shouldn't build MJ a statue now; in this world we build statues of warriors and conquerors, if we don't build a statue for the guy who sung "it don't matter if you're black or white"...

P.S. He actually physically proved that "it don't matter if you're black or white" - he was everything from a black genius to a white genius. Beyond media speculation and tabloiding, isn't that a living metaphor?

The Teo Identity

Over the years my site just seemed to be a basket full of my various projects. Today marks the launch of a clear identity and a definition of the site purpose: from now on, its title will be Teo's Desktop and Mobile Software. Not only that, but i've also registered a new domain to point to my same site: www.DesktopAndMobile.com. It can be easily remembered and it's a nice alternative to an URL containing a non-english name :)

P.S. The Teo Supremacy should come next, right? :D

Movies that don't hold back

I just came back from Angels & Demons, a movie which impressed me with the acting and the script. Ewan McGregor was fabulous (Tom Hanks too, as usual), and the special effects were pretty smart. And thankfully, this was a movie that didn't hold back. In my opinion if a movie isn't action-packed, there's no point. Star Trek was even more so, doesn't let you breathe. And i can usually see this from the trailers, if the trailer doesn't let you breathe, it's great, but if the trailer consists of one continuous scene, you'll know that it's probably the climax of the movie :)

To be or not to be (a photographer)

The zombie on the left was spotted in the wild some time today. Either that or he's an inmate. On the other hand, you can see the pics i took of myself with the Diamond. I then printed them with my new Canon Pixma printer on the complimentary glossy paper i got when i (recently) ordered the printer. Now which do i put on my diploma :)

Feeling like an Asgard

This time i feel like an Asgard, the Stargate species i admire so much and which i find so inspirational. I never would have dreamed of pointing a phone cam to the sky and have it sort constellations for me. Even more, the app can actually direct you to the point of the sky where a planet or a star of your choosing is. This is now possible (i'm definitely getting my Android phone as soon as possible):

Free music for content creators

If you've made a website or a created a movie, how many times have you looked for supportive elements like icons, music or pictures. There are a lot of sources that slap the words "Royalty Free" on their sites, but, as you've probably come to realise, that doesn't always mean "Free". That generally goes for everything, not just music. Well anyway, PartnersInRhyme, a site that i've grown to like very much, not only sells music and sound effects but also has some free collections. I especially like music loops because they're good company to the videos i create. I'll also post about truly free icon and picture providers soon too.
