9/11 What else happened on September 11th?

Of course, it's our duty to remember what happened on 9/11. And we will probably do for every year to come on this day. But i thought i should provide a breath of fresh air (at least to myself if not to other people :) ) by thinking about other things that happened on September 11th during history. Some interesting events are:

• Mahatma Gandhi starts Non-Violence movement in 1906
• Ground broken for the construction of The Pentagon in 1941
• Formation of the World Wildlife Fund in 1961
• The Beatles record their debut single, Love Me Do in 1962
• The Pee-wee Herman Show airs as a special on HBO in 1981
• Swedish minister Anna Lindh dies after being assaulted and fatally wounded in 2003
• the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety enters into effect in 2003
